The Transmurgiana is an 8-day long bike trip. that has as a starting point the city of Bari in Puglia with its sparkling old town, an authentic place that tourism has not yet managed to overturn, where you can enjoy delicious local street food.
The bike itinerary passes from the low Murgia of the Itria Valley to the Alta Murgia of the National Park also stopping in Matera (Unesco Site), a town totally carved into the limestone rock, one of the oldest cities in the world, awarded in 2019 the title of European Capital of Culture.
The trip can be pedaled in two modes:
Transmurgiana Self-guided: you will travel on your own and we will transport your luggage from one hotel to another, we will book for you the best accommodation in the area; moreover we will provide you: with GPS tracks of all the stages of the journey and all the information on the places you will cross during the trip (including the best places to enjoy the sublime local Italian food);
Transmugian Guided by our staff. This mode takes place only on certain scheduled dates (you can find the departure calendar in the online booking form) and the trip is confirmed with a minimum number of subscribers (10 people).
If you choose the guided version of this trip, the innovative part of our proposal lies in the workshop activities included in the travel program, some experiences designed to allow contact between the traveler and the locals.
The guided version of the Trasmurgiana is a journey for people who love to get involved, immerse themselves in the spirit of the place, and interact with locals, outside of their comfort zone.
For example, along the itinerary, we take travelers to “do the shopping” with us, visiting small village shops, street markets, and farms. With the products purchased, we prepare dinner together teaching you the secrets of Apulian cuisine. The cooking class takes place outdoors, in nature, using our equipped Camp- Kitchens. In the end, we will have dinner under an old oak tree and sleep under the stars in Glamping Tents equipped with every comfort… not too bad, right?
On the other hand, if you are looking for a bike holiday in Italy but you prefer to build your daily program on your own, following our selected route, the self-guided version is the best solution… and it’s always available!
So, whether you want to ride alone or in a group, take your bike or rent one from us; Puglia and the Alta Murgia National Park await you with their breathtaking beauty and the promise of an unforgettable adventure on two wheels.
Fill out the form and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
